God Is My God, V.G.

I was born into a Christian home, and so, I do not remember a time when God was not a major part of my life. Both of my parents were saved at a young age and began to meet with the local church long before I was born. As a child, many of my fondest memories are tied to children's meetings and activities involving the other members in the church. The believers in the local church were not just people we met on Sunday morning. They were our family.

As I grew older the scenery in my life changed, as did the ease of my early childhood. I found myself in a difficult situation, and I needed something or someone to get me through it. It was in this time, particularly beginning in high school and continuing into college, that I really began to appreciate the writings of Witness Lee and the fellowship with the believers in the local churches because they brought me to know, experience, and love the Lord.

The writings of Witness Lee began to open the Bible to me and show me my God. I found Him as my Emmanuel, the One who was with me (Matthew 1:23), supplying me with Himself, in my situations. The God of the Bible became my God.

The believers in the church were also there caring for me in so many ways. I cannot begin to say how many times they have shepherded me both practically and spiritually. Even when I was unfaithful, they were faithful to pray for me, to call me, to invite me over for dinner, and to care for me through all of my hills and valleys. I cannot thank them enough. It was through them that I began to know and experience the Body of Christ.

I cannot fully express my appreciation for Witness Lee and the believers in the local church for it is through them that Christ and the Body of Christ have become real and living to me.
